Don't you hate the waiting? Watching The AOKP Merged Changelog and waiting for your device to be updated? A cool feature, a fix for an error you have? Well I do! :p
So I decided to build my own. I am relatively new at this and for now am following the varius instructions I've found to compile my own nightly.
To see what changes have been made, go to the Official AOKP Changelog. The builds will incorporate all changes up to the time of the build. I plan (spoken: will try) on building these every time there is a big change for the N7 or every 4 or 5 days... maybe more often if I can get some scripts going. If the Devs don't add any changes then obviously I won't build.
As I have yet to learn to cherry pick, these ROMs will be just a "merged commits" only build of AOKP JB-MR1 for now. I use these builds daily on my N7 and have encountered no problems. Also, I am not (yet) a Developer, so I cannot provide much support but maybe, if we're lucky a couple will drop by from time to time.

Clean Installation
It is always a good idea to have a Full Nandroid saved in case something goes wrong. That said I generally keep a full Nandroid (updated about once a week) and prior to flashing a nightly I make a data only Nandroid, replacing the previous data only Nandroid I made. So I do this:
Then everything is still set up and I'm done!

- Make a Data only NANDROID
- wipe data/factory reset in recovery
- flash ROM
- flash Gapps (201212)
- flash System Sounds
- flash Franco's Latest Kernel
- Restore Data only Nandroid
- reboot
Then everything is still set up and I'm done!
